Used in the introduction to Justines - This is the Sea 4 - The video was taken in 2006 - during a trip Pete Jones, Phil Glegg and I undertook from Scoresbysund to Ammassalik.

At this point when we met the bear we were about 300 miles from any other people.

We fired shots over its head to scare it off - and fortunately it left us in peace.

Although pretty scary at the time - on reflection it was one of the highlights of our trip. We later met another on land, again it left with out causing a problem.

This was a very remote part of the Grenland coast and should not put you off - the chances of seeing a bear in the area my trips are run in is very small.

We would be very lucky indeed !!!
