Martin Rickard
For the past 9 years I have spent my summers exploring the east coast of Greenland - during this time I have paddled north from Ammassalik to find Gino Watkins memorial cross at Lake Fjord - south to explore the coast and visit his 1930 / 31 base camp and attempted a major unsuported 700 mile trip from Scoresbysund to Ammassalik .
Through these adventures I have gained considerable local knowledge and experience of the coast , its wild life, the ice, weather conditions and its people.
In 2008 I established my own kayak base in Tasiilaq, the main settlement in the Ammassalik region and from this run guided trips each summer. I can cater for a wide range of paddlers from youth groups on multi activity expeditions to experienced paddlers wishing to follow the Watkins trail and visit his base camps and explore much further a field.
My trips cater for small groups of individuals. They are well organised with a relaxed, friendly and supportive attmosphere and aim to give you the best chance to make the most of your Greenland adventure.
